Connecticut!! Who Cares?!

Completely understandable reaction. Although Connecticut still has some wonderful attributes and people, citizens, and prosperity are fleeing its borders. Yes, Connecticut seems more and more inconsequential on the national stage, but the results of the 2022 election in our small state are actually important for every American. Sounds like hyperbole? Stay with me a few minutes so I can explain.

Why should you care whether or not Dick Blumenthal gets reelected to the Senate? Lots and lots of reasons, but let’s focus on two. Blumenthal doesn’t like voter ID and he loves absentee ballots, so ignoring the Constitution he introduced a bill to allow the federal government to meddle in the states’ elections. And recently Blumenthal attended a communist party event and accepted an award from them, later claiming that he didn’t know that they were communists. I guess Blumenthal’s staff set him up, or he isn’t telling us the truth. I know he isn’t stupid and didn’t know who was at the dinner table with him.

You should also care about Joe Courtney possibly going back to the House. If you or anyone you love has diabetes, Joe has had an impact on the cost of your and their medicine. (See my post April 8, 2022, What a Sweet Deal.) And if you pay taxes and/or use Medicare, Joe cost you a lot of money. (See my post on June 17, 2022, Joe Wrangled Us A Deal - Sort Of.)

I promised to give you two reasons person why you should care about Connecticut, but I can’t resist a third. Lockstep Joe and Dick have had a huge impact on your life. By supporting all of the President’s schemes, you can thank Biden’s boys for inflation, empty grocery shelves, babies without formula, gas prices, the Ukraine, billions of dollars of American arms and material in enemy hands, Americans left behind in Afghanistan . . . the list seems endless. To top it off - something few can afford to do at the gas stations theses days - neither Joe nor Dick has had the integrity to publicly criticize their leader for the deaths of our Marines in Kabul. Why did they have to die, Joe? Dick?

Ok, surely the Connecticut gubernatorial race could not have any effect on you! Sorry . . . you might be in the soup with us. Although the media largely ignores Ned Lamont’s woes: an FBI investigation of corruption, no-bid contracts for cronies, claims of sexual harassment and discrimination in his administration, and other complicated problems, it is Mrs. Lamont’s financial investment in Covid testing that really reeks. I don’t know the details of her investments and whether or not her money comes from Covid testing in Connecticut, nationally, globally, or just the drug store down the block. What is glaringly apparent is that the wife of a governor who mandates testing should not profit from said testing, but she is according to newspaper accounts. What an awful example - an unofficial precedent - for all state governors so tempted.

So, since we know that washing our hands helps to keep us healthy and safe, let’s wash our hands of these three at the polls in November. The nation will thank us.
