Fist Bumping Joe

Video of Joe shows a frail old man surprised by Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman moving quickly toward him with a held-out fist. Reflectively and weakly Joe holds up his own. The two bump fists and the prince quickly veers away. This seemingly friendly gesture by the prince actually reads as a sign of dominance, but Biden - always eager to be popular - is too old and slow to understand and probably would have been flattered even if he had been young and quick. The significance of those few seconds that flashed around the world were understood by billions, but Joe didn’t grasp the importance; but he often doesn’t understand what is going on around him.

At home, Democrat spokesperson Adam Schiff publicly criticized President Biden for that fist bump. Don’t get too excited, now. The woke are not waking. Fist bumping with a person linked to the horrific murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi provides a reason for Democrats to begin the process of unloading an increasingly unreliable useful idiot. Useful idiots are, by definition, unreliable to a point, but this particular idiot is quickly passing his buy/sell date.

Timing is such a problem for the Democrats it might be insurmountable. Getting rid of Biden before an election gives America cackling Kamala, who is deeply unpopular with everyone. Even her own father has publicly criticized her. You might think the choice of VP could save the day, but it would be difficult to dump a second president in one term. Kamala would do as much or more damage to the party as Biden if she were in office for two years. And if they are going to retire Joe, doing it before the 2022 election could be disastrous. Dumping Joe is an admission that the party made the wrong choice in 2020, and if they made such a very, very bad choice in 2020, what’s to say they won’t again?

Regardless of Democrats’ motive for going after poor old Joe, I agree that the murder of Khashoggi in Istanbul in 2018 is a reason to criticize Biden’s so-called foreign policy, if we may use that term loosely. But why does this mistake propel Schiff to the fore when all of Biden’s other serious mistakes have not? Because the Democrats are signaling to the compliant media that the party will protect and avenge them. Don’t want those lapdogs turning into pit bulls.

Schiff also signaled the military and law enforcement, but I don’t believe he meant to give away a party secret: we’ll protect the media, but we won’t go to bat for you. Nope, not you. You can bleed and die for us, but we won’t look after you. Thousands of dead in Iraq and Afghanistan, fourteen service members killed at Kabul Airport, police murdered in our streets, Secret Service under siege protecting the White House and Saint John’s Church in 2020, and the families of the disabled or dead living with the results every day. “Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, your courage!” then lights out and cameras turned off, “Get lost until we need you.”

Forget the Democrat leaders’ motives. Americans of all parties, do you mean it when you say thank you? If you do, vote out Biden’s boys and girls in every state. Whether or not you live in Connecticut, pay attention to the antics of Biden’s Connecticut boys. Help send Mike France to Congress, any of the three Republicans to the Senate, and Bob Stefanowski to Hartford where he will be in charge of the National Guard. Then we can sincerely reply “You’re welcome.”
