Heavy Lifting
Dick Blumenthal and Joe Courtney must be getting really tired. After all, they do a lot of heavy lifting for their party. First, they have to keep up with what the party wants them to care about. One minute it’s trying to guess what a woman is and the next it’s protecting women’s rights, whoever and whatever they are. As long-time, dutiful party members, I suspect Dick and Joe might have some say. Dick much more than Joe. As we’ve seen, Joe was interested in farming, but the party ignored him until recently. With everyone worried about food supply lines, it probably seemed like the time to throw Joe a bone. Too late to ameliorate the looming winter food shortage. Besides, inflation and shortages of farm supplies will negate much of the benefit. Oh well, Joe, you spent years trying.
Dick is avant-garde compared to Joe. Abortion and birth control - both subjects not at issue - feature high on his list, and he hopes to get them on yours. He’s also worried about his rich supporters getting injured on their treadmills. Don’t smirk, readers, it’s a problem. And surely Dick’s constituents who can’t afford gas for their cars and oil to heat their houses will appreciate the chance to walk or cycle in the rain and snow and to chop firewood. Who needs an expensive treadmill?! We can do the Blumenthal/Courtney/Biden workout and diet.
