North Korean Missiles

President Joe Biden joined with Japan and South Korea to sanction North Korea for testing nuclear missiles. Japan sanctioned three groups and one person, while South Korea sanctioned eight persons and seven institutions. Our leader sanctioned three persons.

Let’s take a look at one bad guy of the three on Joe’s list:

“. . . a designated a North Korean individual operating from Vietnam, Kim Su Il, for his ties to the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK). Kim Su Il is also an employee of the Munitions Industry Department (MID); a WPK subordinate that is United Nations (UN)- and U.S.-designated for its involvement in key aspects of North Korea’s missile program, which is subject to a range of U.S. sanctions restrictions.”

I think Kim is underwhelmed by this new announcement, since it’s a replay of his Treasury sanction in 2019. What do you think?

At least Biden added two names to the sanctions list, but I think it’s a pretty anemic response overall. I’m not the only one who believes that, because “[d]ecades of U.S.-led sanctions have failed to halt North Korea's increasingly sophisticated missile and nuclear weapon programs.” CNN, that intrepid bastion of hard-edge reporting, however, accepts Biden’s assurance that his sanctions will scare North Korea.

I can’t help wondering if Biden even knew that Kim Su Il was already under sanction. Between 2016 and 2019, Biden liked to talk about train rides and his hairy legs. Now he’s obsessed with social engineering projects and keeping Hunter sober, out of jail, and mouth shut. Kim, on the other hand, was and is, busy getting Vietnamese minerals North Korea needs for its missiles. Pretty frightening difference.
