No More Mister Nice Guy

Connecticut Republicans want to play nice in 2022. How do I know? Recently, Bob Stefanowski and others have opined on the Lee Elci radio show that Ned Lamont is a nice guy, but a bad governor. Apparently, someone, maybe their mothers or aunties, have admonished them to play nice; otherwise, people won’t like them. I certainly hope their own political strategists didn’t give them such lame advice. If so, he or she might be a covert Democrat who slipped onto the team. ( It happens, and if you doubt it, take a moment to reflect on John McCain’s terribly conceived and run presidential campaign.)

Ok, I admit that some of the sentiment behind auntie’s advice has the barest whiff of merit. The electorate is tired of nasty campaign rhetoric that adds nothing of substance to the debate; however, the people are certainly tough enough to hear the truth. Here it is: Ned Lamont is not a nice guy.

Although Emperor Lamont may be giving up his crown soon, it won’t do him much good. The damage is done, and he can’t dodge, duck, or run. He just hopes he can. He’s betting that the election is so far in the future - a whole nine and half months away - he will have redeemed himself by then. The re-messaging oozing from Fauci is designed to help guys like Ned. Recently, Fauci announced that the Covid death numbers aren’t quite as high as we were told, because the stats include those who died with Covid, not of Covid. News flash - a lot of us saw through that in the beginning and anyone learning it now can only conclude that they have been played for fools. Nobody likes that feeling.

Ned’s defenders will plead that he was finding his way. Nope. In the beginning, there was a lot of robust debate about quarantines, treatments, and vaccines. Fauci, Collins, and others shut that debate down. So Fauci and Co. are responsible, not Lamont? Nope, again. By assuming the purple, Lamont signaled that he would guide us through troubled waters. Instead of boldly leading, however, Lamont adhered to his party’s line, all the while ignoring other scientific and medical voices. He apparently didn’t even sneak onto his computer when no one was watching. A simple internet search would have revealed decades of research on therapeutics and successful use of them in other countries. A guilty perusal of CDC stats would have raised red flags, and even if Ned isn’t a numbers guy, surely he knows someone who is. So in Connecticut instead of allowing doctors to treat their patients, the governor was complicit in forcing doctors to send sick people home without any treatment to either recover or to get sick enough to go to the ER.

Meanwhile, the Lamonts’ financial interest in Covid tests has put a stink on Ned’s governorship that Connecticut’s sea breezes can’t blow away.

Dang!! This is pretty bad! Upon reflection, the Democrats may be considering the idea of putting somebody else in the race. Good try, but it won’t work. Ned Lamont followed the party line, state and national. That, after all, is my point. He served his party, not his state.

So, Republicans don’t listen to mom and auntie, but don’t be rude. Take part of their advice to heart: no dark, dirty, insinuating ads. Stick to the truth and the facts - they’re dark enough on their own - and then tell us what you’re going to do to get us on the right track.
