Ned Loves Veterans, Sort Of

This past Saturday, we had the unveiling of the Connecticut Gold Star Families Memorial. As a Gold Star wife, I was touched by the large crowd and the beautiful monument. The ceremony was heartfelt and it’s always comforting to talk with other Gold Star families; you know, the people who vainly hope that no one ever has to join us.

Yes, everyone loves veterans now, and the families some of them left behind. So, where was our governor, Ned Lamont, on Saturday afternoon? Certainly, not at the dedication. I scanned the crowd for him before the opening remarks. If he had arrived late, the hoopla would have alerted the crowd.

Ned, where were you? Mike France was there. Lee Elci was there. And get this, Ned. Bob Stefanowski was there. Yep, Bob took a Saturday afternoon to go to Berlin, even though the dedication did not offer him any opportunity for public attention and campaigning. He came out of respect for and gratitude to our veterans and their families. Thank you, Bob. It matters.

As usual, I might be harsh. Maybe you tried to come, but no one got that GPS in the limo fixed. How many times do I have to warn you about that staff of yours?
