The Wall Street Casino and GameStop

Whenever I say that I don’t gamble with money, someone inevitably asks if I own a mutual fund.  “Yes,” I admit, “but the government made me do it by dismantling the Glass-Steagall Act.”  I can assure you, mention the Glass-Steagall Act and wiseacres zip it.

Now, as an historian I know only a bit about economics, but it seems to me that . . .

Wild Fires, Climate Justice, and Military-Aged Male Migrants

On September 20th, Joe Biden issued an executive order to establish a climate corps. Instead of reinstating former government projects that worked well, he rang the climate social justice bell:

“The American Climate Corps will mobilize a new, diverse generation . . . will focus on equity and environmental justice – prioritizing communities traditionally left behind . . . prioritizing . . . the Administration’s Justice40 goal. . .calling on Tribal, State, and local governments, labor unions, nonprofit service allies, the private sector, and philanthropy to collaborate with the Federal government . . .” 1.

Friday Roundup

A note: This blog began as a discussion of books, but after Biden killed thirteen military service members by self-centered recklessness, I decided to focus on getting Biden’s boys out of office. I don’t get paid to write, no one asks me to write for them, or to call in to Lee Elci’s radio program (94.9 FM, CT). My website is not monetized. I’m not looking for a job or favors. I honestly believe that Bob Stefanowski will make an effective, honest, commonsense governor, and that Mike France is ready to go to Washington, having proven himself in the military and the state government. So, please read and repost, share, shout this blog from the rooftops. We need change.

On to the round up.

Ned Loves Veterans, Sort Of

This past Saturday, we had the unveiling of the Connecticut Gold Star Families Memorial. As a Gold Star wife, I was touched by the large crowd and the beautiful monument. The ceremony was heartfelt and it’s always comforting to talk with other Gold Star families; you know, the people who vainly hope that no one ever has to join us.
